It was a dim evening, with the sun nearly fully set, and the streets somewhat empty, with the exception of a few who had business of their own. The dust seemed to have settled from the busy day that had passed, and the lighting was as if the sun had turned red, though it would only fade into a darker purple color, and eventually black.
James strode down the street, the hood of his dark green cloak resting upon his head, covering most of his face as it commonly did. His cloak covered his sword, and he walked somewhat slowly, just enjoying the serenity of the streets as it was. He sighed and looked at the small carts that vendors were closing down for the night, knowing that it would be no use trying to sell their merchandise past dark.
He looked from side to side occasionally in suspicion, in case anything would happen, or someone might pop up, which would only result in him having to speak to them possibly. James continued to just walk down the streets, having no real destination nor purpose at that time.

Sophia had been working for a long time, all day in fact, with no break or food what so ever. Now as the sun was almost fully set, she sighed and thought ‘sod it, I’m going home’, and with that she packed her bags and such, papers clasped in her arms as she marched out, turning off lights and any left of electrical equipment. Tonight she would have to go out hunting again. Sophia never had any time for dates, or romantic relationships of any sort. Her long brown hair was slightly messed up and worn, but everything else was okay.
She exited the building and walked down the street, eyes glued to the floor. She wasn’t paying attention to where she was going, and maybe she deserved it, because seconds later she accidentally bumped into someone, causing her to fall backwards onto the floor. “I’m sorry,” she apologised, picking up her papers and finally standing up by using the help of the wall. She rubbed her eyes and stared at the man she had bumped into. “I’m sorry, really I am…I wasn’t looking where I was going,”

James had been simply absorbed in his own twisted mind when he felt someone crashing into him from behind. He had nearly been knocked over, but had gained his balance quick enough, luckily, to avoid falling down. Instantly he turned around, his hand already on the hilt of a dagger in his belt, but he let go of it to see a women on the ground, with papers scurried everywhere.
I had a feeling something like this would happen... ugh. he thought to himself and then turned his attention to the lady that had run into him. James was about to help her up, when she beat him to it. "There is no need to apologize, Miss. Things like this happen all the time." he stated politely. "Are you alright? It looks like you hit the ground pretty hard..." James asked.
"Again, it's alright. I've been guilty of not paying attention to where I am going, so there is no need for apologies." he said with a small smile, though very faint. James looked at the lady. She seemed to have been somewhere such as a study or a library, and she seemed to have been in that place for quite awhile.

"To me, yes they do," she muttered, quickly flicking through her papers to see if she had lost any. Pushing hair out of her eyes, she looked around, eyes scanning to see if anything had 'run' off. "I do have to apologise, since I always seem to be crashing into people," her smile lit up her face as she grinned at him.
"I'm always alright. I'm just overly tiered, that's all, but hey, no rest of the wicked," she winked playfully at him before pushing the papers into her bag and rubbing her arms. She was quite cold, but it was her own fault for not bringing her coat to work. What was work? Dealing with papers and then vampire hunting. "no, please. let me get yo a drink to say i'm sorry," she smiled.

James rolled his eyes and smiled, which was unusual for him. He had tried to avoid matters such as this as much as possible, though at times it was impossible without being rude, which he did not like. "Well... even so, there is no need. And it's no big deal." he stated glancing at her.
He saw her rub her arms with her hands. "I can relate to that. At times I've spent three days in a library, reading, and I only manage to sleep a wink. Here, take my cloak, you look rather cold." James said and removed his cloak from himself, and in doing so, removed his hood, to his despair. He handed it to the women, wondering if she would accept his offer of it. "Why thank you, but..." he paused to think, then continued, "alright. I guess we could have a drink, to at least escape the cold." James said with a smile.

No big deal, how many times had vampires actually said that to her in attempt to turn her? Let's try hundreds of times, so she didn't really like that one. But if he insisted, she decided that it couldn't be that bad.
"Mate, all day i work in an office, or a Library, then all night I'm out on Patrol or Hunting," she replied, tilting her head. When he offered her his coat she stepped back. Not because she was scared, but she couldn't take it. "No, I'm fine. I adapt to the cold after a while. Anyway, it's my fault, I didn't wear a coat to work this morning," she explained. Well the real reason was that the vampires always wrecked her coats, so she never wore them, even on freezing cold days.
"That would be a good idea," She smiled, looking around her. "You know anywhere good?" she asked, a little helpless. She hadn't sat down since earlier this morning.

James looked at her with uncertainty and said, "I can relate to most of that, except I do not patrol or hunt. I usually just get stuck in a library somewhere. However from time to time when I travel I run into some unfortunate circumstances." He realized that he no longer had a hood on, and that his hair might not be covering the mark next to his eye. Drat! he thought and again, looked at the person.
When she had refused his offer he shrugged and put his cloak back on, and covered his hair with his hood. "Are you sure? And people forget things... once I forgot an important scroll from a library that was burning down and it held a key rune as to the tribe of..." James hesitated at this, but continued, "er, creatures that I have some... er, business to attend with." he said.
"I'm afraid I do not. I've barely been in this city for a day, and half of that time was in a library or in an alleyway trying to escape the weather. But I did spot a tavern when I first came here up the street here... but alas, I have not been there, so I do not know how good they are." James stated truthfully. "Oh! And I forgot to introduce myself, I'm James." he added, putting out his right hand. He had been careful not to state his last name, for it would be like a death sentence if any enemies of his had learned his whereabouts.

"I can assure you, you know nothing of what i really do," Coughing, Sophia looked around her, uncertain of this city herself. Her stupid watcher had sent her here to look for a vampire, but so far she hadn't found him, and had been reduced to sorting out papers and files.
"I am sure. Sorry, but i have a fear about taking things from strangers," Sophia admitted, even though she was cold. She normally got used to the cold...something wasn't right here. Her eyes darted from each possible hiding place for a Vampire, in the shadows, alleys. So far, nothing. "I try not to forget things, or everyone else is in danger," she wasn't really concentrating on her answer there, as something in the shadows had caught her attention. Something moving...
"Well that's you and me both. Been here for six flippin' days on orders from my stupid watcher...and nothing!" Sophia huffed, turnign back to stare at him but keepign her guard up. She saw no point in warning the man about what she did, although soem might have guessed by now, by the fact that she had a Watcher. "Nice to meet you James," she took his hand and shook it. "I'm Sophia," she nodded, not giving out her last name like he didn't. She didn't care though; Vampires found her whether they knew her or not. She took her hand away and dropped it to her side.

"I can tell you this, that I haven't the slightest clue what you do, nor do I believe it really matters too much at this moment. What I do is not important either. We all do what we do, and nothing can change that." he stated with a small, and very faint, smile.
James nodded in understanding. "It's alright. Perfectly understandable." he said. He noticed that Sophia had seemed to be aware of something, she seemed to be alert. James didn't ask, in fear of offending her, plus he knew what it was like always watching, always trying to avoid anything and everything.
"Watcher? I'm afraid I have no clue what you mean by having a watcher... alas, I am not one to really stick around people for too long to learn their professions, so I have no idea what other professions there are besides the ones in my village..." James said, stopping at the mention of his village. He did not particularly enjoy mentioning it, for it brought back the memories of why he had left it.
He then said, "Nice to meet you too, Sophia.", he paused and continued, "Shall we go to a nearby tavern?" James looked at her once more, a small smile starting to form on his face.
