Ajax isn't very sure of himself, his surroundings, or anything that goes on around him. He doesn't like people very much, and doesn't put effort into making friends. He isn't shy or scared, he's just... unsure what will happen if he happens to make a friend or walk up the hill. He is constantly questioning himself, and analyzing others.
He is quite a literate fellow, and he reads most of the time. He likes knowing facts from falsehoods, and being sure about that much of his world. Although it may seem like he would know a bit, he doesn't flaunt his knowledge... since he doesn't talk to anyone.
He is certainly not a very social creature, and likes his alone time. It lets him slip into self-pity and self-loathing with no one to stop him from becoming depressed. He is very sheltered in himself, and doesn't come out of his "shell." Depressing fellow, isn't he?
History:
Ajax was born, as everyone is, and he had a loving mother and father, not what everyone has. His mother, a human, raised him dutifully, even though he would sometimes shapeshift into another form while she was doing something with him. She was very good natured about the whole business of raising a half-breed. His father, who was slightly more distant than his mother, was still very kind to him, and tried to teach him to master his skills as he grew.
When he was still fairly young, around two years old, his mother had a little baby girl. Sadly, his mother died in child-birth. His little sister, Indi, survived, and Ajax's father raised them as best he could. Ajax was happy to be with his sister, and they became inseparable, even that young.
When he was five, he met some not-nice village people who started to tease him about being a half-breed. He didn't know how to cope with the teasing, and ended up crying and running home, even though his father was in the market buying food. Hence, while his worried father looked for him, he was crying and trying to figure out what "half-breed" really meant. That was when the first feelings of doubt started to penetrate his young heart.
At the age of eight, his sister passed away from a deadly disease that had killed humans and shapeshifters alike. He didn't understand what was happening to her, and his father didn't let him near her. He started to hate his father, for he didn't talk to her on her dying day. His father tried to explain what had happened, and that if Ajax had gone in there, he probably would have caught it and been killed. Still, Ajax didn't listen, and only got more and more angry at his father.
Around the age of ten, Ajax begun to read huge stacks of books, but quickly finished all of the books in his father's library. He search for more books, and soon was spotted by some human boys who promptly started teasing him. It was a nightmare for Ajax, as they were older than he was. He was beaten within an inch of his life, choked with mud, drowned in water, burned by fire, and many other, and fairly terrible, things. After that day, he hasn't been able to put his trust in a human.
At twelve, he was very closed within himself, and very secretive. His father tried in vain to get Ajax to talk with him, but it just didn't happen. Ajax only pushed his father away, and delved deeper into books. He started writing his own novels, some good, some not. Then he started drawing, and found that he had a real talent with it. Soon, he world was just focused on sketching, drawing, and analyzing what he drew. He got very good very fast.
In his sixteenth year, he started talking to his father again, and started to tame and control his shapeshifting abilities. It was hard and tiring work, but slowly he began to master it. His father was proud of him, and told him so many times.
At eighteen, he and his father had a major argument, one about his shifting abilities, and he ran away to make it on his own. He was cautious of humans, and wary of shapeshifters. Other races he avoided, as much as he could. Staying out of fights was his main goal, though he would get picked on occasionally. He quickly finished those fights, and would leave the town that happened in immediately.
And now, at nineteen, he still wanders, shying away from any who try to touch him, to reach out to him. This is where this chapter of his life begins.

RP Sample (2-3 Paragraphs Please):
What's this? Ajax looked down at the letter he was reading and blinked quickly, to make sure that he hadn't read wrong. But of course he hadn't, and he paled slightly over the letter. His long hands shook the parchment, and he felt his body filling with a fiery rush of emotions that he couldn't contain. Love... hate... anger... longing... regret... He shook his head to clear his mind violently, causing the paper to crinkle a little and a girl near him to look up suddenly. He bit his lip and cursed softly, rereading the line again and again.
"Master Ajax... Your father is very ill..." It was the hand-writing of his father's servant, Holbrook. This was bad, and what was Ajax to do? He had never really liked his father after that huge argument, and he didn't want to go back to that place right now. He had been having some nightmares lately, of the human boys beating him to a bloody pulp. Once again, he touched his shoulder at that thought, tracing one of the faded scars automatically.
Sure, he truly did love his father, but what good would it to for him to go there. He sighed and looked around him. It was one of those rare times went he wanted advice. He wanted his mother to be here, in this room, telling him what he should do. He wanted his sister to comfort him. As he thought that, he paled. No! I have no need for human help or love from dead people. They are dead, and don't worry about things like that. I need to forget them. It's not going to help me to sit around wishing for help from spirits of my past. Do I go, or not... I... I will sleep on it and see what I come up with in the morning. See, I didn't need the help of any human scum!
(Hmm... Yuck! I lost my rping skills... *cries* Dragons will rule the earth!)
